Economic development was the force behind vast changes in everyday life, to a degree which was unprecedented in human history.

Shinsui Ito - Shinsui Ito (伊東深水) (February 4, 1898–May 8, 1972), born Hajime Ito in Tokyo, was a Japanese artist who made woodblock prints in the ukiyo-e style, specializing in bijin-ga (beautiful women) and landscapes. Harold Scott MacDonald Coxeter - Harold Scott MacDonald "Donald" Coxeter (February 9, 1907 - March 31, 2003) is regarded as one of the great geometers of the 20th century. He was born in London but spent most of his life in Canada.

Gandhi (film) - Gandhi (1982) is an Anglo-Indian film, directed by Richard Attenborough, about the life of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (also known as Mahatma Gandhi, Great Soul), leader of the nonviolent resistance movement against British colonial rule in India during the first half of the 20th century.
